About Blanket
Blanket is a free PDF online magazine that is aimed at uncovering (excuse the pun!) Art + Design + Photography from the talented people who create it.
The name blanket came from the simple idea that we wanted to ‘cover’ all the
areas of art, design and photography and bring them together in one magazine.
At Blanket, we aim to inspire our readers through informative interviews, cheeky and humorous stories and, of course, beautiful art, design and photography. Most of all, we aim to have a magazine that is like your best friend: it tells you things, it makes you laugh, it inspires you, and it never takes itself too seriously.
Blanket release dates for 2008:
April,
June,
August,
October &
December
(Join our mailing list and we can send you a reminder!)

Meet the Blanket Team
Bec Brown - Editor / Art Director
Bec began her creative career as a photographer and as an Assistant Editor at a small niche magazine in Melbourne, where she was paid with bottles of banana vodka. Despite her now dislike of all things with a fake banana taste her taste for magazines was unspoilt. Bec now spends her every waking hour loving, obsessing and going slightly kooky over Blanket Magazine.
Bec also runs a graphic design business with her partner called sixheads. Visit Sixheads here.
Melinda Woledge - Writer & Assistant Editor
Melinda Woledge is a writer, editor and multi-tasker extraordinaire. Her days consist
of juggling short-story writing, food blogging
and editing around baking, coffee at her local cafe and chasing after her toddler son.
If you want to see more of her writing or to
get some fabulous recipes you can find it
on her food blog.

Caitlin Gahan - Writer & Designer
Caitlin Gahan is a Graphic Designer and Writer who never learnt to ride a bike or do maths of any kind. She loves being a Graphic Designer for two reasons:
1. She can Photoshop photos of herself and
2.
She gets to be involved in Blanket and remain in a constant state of schoolgirl awe of the talent of the artists and designers she interviews. When she is not near her beloved Mac called “Velvet”, she likes to read every book and magazine in sight. Then, her fingers get too itchy and she has to get back to her desk.
Jonathan Hulme - Writer
Jonathan Hulme is a Sociologist, Writer and all round Righteous Dude. He is particularly interested in popular culture and despite being a terrible music snob, will argue that Destiny’s Child are better than Sonic Youth to anyone
who will listen. Fortunately, no one listens.
Jessica Wilson - Craft Writer
Jessica Wilson is the Crafty-mad Scientist behind jek in the box, scrumdillydilly and scrumdilly-do! She lives a short hop away from Hollywood with her sock crafty husbandman, their evil kitty and a mob of sock monkeys. She favours stripey socks and never leaves home without her camera.

David Self - Web_sight Writer
Selfy is a guy who knows a little bit about pretty much everything. Ask people what he does, and they would call him a Graphic Designer, Photographer, Musician or Writer. In truth he is only one of these things, but we’re not quite sure which.
A self-confessed “Internaut”, he revels in the geeky and is most comfortable when there’s a Firefox window open in front of him. If you feel like forwarding him a funny email that’s going around, chances are he saw it before you were born. Why not ask him about web comics instead?
Amanda Laver - Writer
Amanda Laver is a freelance writer who has trained her kitten to attack anyone who uses text abbreviations in public.
She also records songs in her bedroom and is currently finishing a childrens book about music. Amanda prefers earl grey tea over coffee, Fiest over Newsom, and fiction over fact.
Melissa Drennan - Designer
Melissa Drennan is a Sydney based Graphic Designer and Art Director for magazines who has a fascination for tofu, good soy milk lattes, anything Japanese, and sometimes all three at the same time. Her first magazine was a self published Fairy Princess title made with glitter pens. She hasn’t looked back since!
Michael Boston - Designer
Michael Boston is a Graphic Designer in Sydney and dreams of paying exorbitant rents for a cupboard in Tokyo. He is a brand designer and has worked for some very large international companies but has managed to do some fun stuff along the way. When not being a total Japan Nerd he enjoys avoiding cleaning his apartment and performing Guns ‘N’ Roses covers at karaoke. |
